| Piney Point is one of six villages located near I-10 between Chimney Rock and Gessner. Piney Point Village incorporated in 1955. The city maintained restrictions against businesses of any kind. The population rose from 1,790 in 1960 to 3,257 in 1990. Piney Point encompasses approximately 2.5 square miles and is exclusively residential. The city of Piney Point permits only single-family residences on lot sizes of 40,000 square feet minimum. There are some smaller lots that are grandfathered. Residents enjoy the security of zoning ordinances, their own city services and elected city officials. Children in Piney Point attend schools in Spring Branch I.S.D. as well as private schools in the area. Police services for the city of Piney Point Village are provided by Memorial Villages Police Department located at 11981 Memorial Drive. The City of Piney Point Village is served by the Village Fire Department located at 901 Corbindale. The fire department also provides ambulance services.
